Some days are just perfect

This morning was one of those days I didn't really feel like running, but laced up my shoes anyway and heads out. I nearly couldn't find my trail the trees have filled in so much the trailhead is nearly covered up.

I started slow. Reached the dirt road I run on -- it was as though I entered another dimension. Civilization fell away and nature engulfed me. The birds sang, the critters scurried, the water rushing I found renewed energy. The hill I struggle up was easy. It was so peaceful. I stopped and chatted with the horse rancher. I noticed how green it was. How full the trees were. I began running here in October when the trees were changing and loosing their leaves. Now everything was alive. On the leg home I came across a painted turtle.

After a banana and a shower I decided to spend the day enjoying it. I went to Walden Pond. Chatted with my friend that works there. Then sauntered around the pond enjoying the sounds of nature. The bullfrogs, the birds, the chipmunks, squirrels, and the young people splashing and enjoying the water and vacation time ahead. Men fishing.

I have always loved the different colors in the water at Walden Thoreau writes about it in Life in the Woods. The water is always so intriguing here.
This is looking at Thoreau Cove.

A tradition of leaving rocks at Thoreau's cabin site began years ago still continues, and today brightly colored rocks were scattered amongst the pile.

The views of the pond were stunning! The sky and reflections are always so ethereal.

One of my favorite spots is this one. I love the trees in the water, the reflections and ripples.. today the ripples caught my attention and the movement in the water. The sky overhead and under our feet...

The pond will soon be overflowing with people splashing in the water, soaking up the sun on the sand, reading the latest novels while young children building castles on the shore. I imagine Thoreau watching on in spirit.

As I left the pond the main beach was deserted except for this one abandoned bag, a towel left drying on the fence and a pair of shorts I guessed some swimmer left on the fence before his swim. It captured me, so I snapped a shot of it. I imagine, this will more than likely be one of the last quiet days here for a while. It was very peaceful...

One of those days that is set apart from all the others...
