On meeting an (running) Icon...

When I first moved here I used to always see this man running on Hill Rd, that I swore was Bill Rodgers. Really friendly guy always waved said "good morning", "have a great run," etc.. Everyone said I was crazy... I thought, probably so. Why would a world class runner acknowledge me? Well tonight Bill laid this idea to rest. He says "yeah, yeah, yeah, I run Hill Road and Middle Rd all the time!" Mystery solved. And he invited me to run in his race on Sunday.

And if you ever met him you would say of course he said hello. He is the friendliest, most talkative man ever!! So nice!! He gave everyone individual attention. Such amazing treat meeting him. Life is complete!!!

Many Faces of The Gray One...

Buggy Art and frame ship-isms

A bug under the glass. Did he think the flowers were real and slithered in for a taste?

Other fun encounters... a woman looking at 8 x 10 ready made frames "I need an 8 x 10 that is more rectangular." Ummmm....

A man picks up his framing order. "It has plastic on it right?" Plastic wrap? "No plastic glass?"

Slip Sliding Away

Foggy, slippery morning. Delays, cancellations...I couldn't understand why. Then I slid to my car, oooh now I understand, luckily I had nothing in my arms, or I do believe I would have been on the ground. the warmer temperatures feel wonderful though.

First Run in a week

The cold weather has kept me off the road this week, but I got out this morning. Accuweather said 20 degrees. Was still cold despite double layer of socks and gloves. My eyes were watering from the brisk cold air. Felt good being out again. The pond was frozen with several frozen rings visible as if water ripples froze in place. I am always impressed by the quietness in the air during these morning runs. Still and quiet.  One can never have too much nature.

Across the miles

It's so rare I open my mailbox to good mail..receiving a card or note out if the blue from a dear friend that says they miss you. (Picture) I love days like that. Times like this let me think the world is not all bad.

I had two friends leave encouraging words today. The other left a voice mail about my magazine article. Thank you Betty for the card and Denny the compassionate voicemail.

I left work today wondering why my family does not hold me in the same regard? I can count on one hand the encouraging, loving, supportive comments they've shared with me.

So it makes me ponder why my family cannot accept me the way my friends do?

On contemplating the life of ice ...

It's frigid outside negative numbers with the windchill, yet I ordered an ice cold beer. The glasses are so cold the beer foams and ice floes form. Looking somewhat like an iceberg. At moments the ice twists and turns and mini explosions occur in the fluid sending bits of ice twirling. It's rather interesting to watch. Makes me wish I knew more, or remembered more about science and natural phenomenon.

Not necessarily for the Nook

By Deb from Boxborough, MA on 1/20/2013

3out of 5

Pros: High Quality, Lightweight

Cons: Not as described

Best Uses: Commuting, Traveling, Daily Use

Describe Yourself: Practical, Comfort-Oriented

Primary use: Personal

Was this a gift?: No

I was looking for a case for my Nook HD. I don't care for the ones Barnes and Noble offers. Timbuk2's site said this case would fit the HD. It is very snug and covers the edges so it's difficult to touch the sides of the screen. I had to put in upside down to make it useful. However, I have to remove it from the case to charge it this way. I love Timbuk2, but I must say this was a disappointment. But it is better than the other case I had from B&N.

I love the way it fits in my bags and the Velcro closures that none of the B&N cases have. And the fact it can be removed from the outer case and stand. Awesome features!! It's a tad difficult to wiggle out of the inner sleeve but not impossible.

Happy Birthday Sebastian

Sebastian turned two in November, but since it fell on the cusp of the frantic holidays his mom decided to celebrate it on January 6th!
